Online shopping is the latest trend and lets always follow the trends. When shopping online, if you are using your debit card, the first thing is to ensure is to have sufficient amount in your banking account.
- During the online transaction system will ask for the mode of transaction. Select the debit card as the mode of transaction.
- The merchant website then directs you to payment Gate way.
- Once you are on the bank website, ensure the web address has a lock symbol and the web address should have https which means Hypertext transfer protocol secure. This will ensure that the site is secure.
- You will be asked CVV number and expiry date of the debit card to ensure authorised person is making the transaction.
- CVV number is the 3 digit number at the back of the card. You will have either an option to create a password or an option of One time password. For few cards the system will ask for the number against the alphabets on the back of the card.
- The OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Insert the OTP number and complete the transaction. Make sure there is no delay in updating the OTP as the OTP is valid for only a short period of time.
- Any online transaction has a factor of risk. Ensure you use only secure laptops. Close all the browsers after the transactions.
- If you find an option of virtual Key board, please use it for security.
- Never disclose the passwords, OTP or CVV numbers to your friends.
- And the most important thing is don’t let the system sae the password.
